What thread count is best

Silk threads are incredibly fine, which means generally you should expect a higher thread count than say, cotton. A thread count of 400 or more is considered to be a basic requirement for high-end silk.

Although thread count isn’t the most important criteria when measuring silk quality, you should always check the thread count of a silk fabric before making your purchase. A higher thread count means the silk is woven more compactly, and as a result, the silk is structurally stronger and can withstand more tearing and shearing forces when being washed in a washing machine.
